Here Is An Example Of How
We Use Our Donated Money
Team River Runner: Lexington is a registered 501-C-3. Our tax ID number is 20-3838651 and all donations are fully tax deductible. The below list is synopsis of how we have historically spent money, however, we are ever evolving in our program needs and focuses.
$25.00
Weekly paddling trip for 2 paddlers (paddlers is the designation our program has for “veterans”) on local waterways like the Elkhorn Creek and Kentucky River.
$100.00
Out of state trip for one paddler to rivers in the Carolina’s or Tennessee. These trips are usually three days, with all food and lodging provided.
$250.00
One month of indoor pool sessions, usually in the winter months when we can’t get out of doors. These sessions are instrumental in what we do, as it gives us a chance to teach the basic paddling skills that will be needed on the river, in a very safe and contained environment.
$500.00
5 paddlers sent to the Adventure Sports Center Inc. (ASCI) in Maryland for the annual TRR Rendezvous. This event draws TRR participants from all over the country, and is a chance for them to learn and grow with one anther. This event is in the summer months each year.
$1,000.00
A boat package to be given to one paddler to have for their own use. This package includes all the gear paddlers would need to be able to kayak on their own. We include a boat, pfd, skirt and paddle in this package. This allows paddlers to continue to grow in the TRR family, but also join the larger paddling community.
$2,500.00
Provide 8-10 paddlers to take part in our annual paddling and leadership clinic that we offer in the Florida Key’s. This is a 7-day trip, where we select the most highly motivated paddlers in our program, and take them to this most magnificent of places to learn about life and leadership. This trip could not be done on this amount of money if we did not have the support of the Key’s community, who donates a good portion of what we offer while there. We run this trip in the winter months.
$5,000.00
The best gift of all is when TRR: Lexington can give back to others who need just as much help as us. We are able to start therapeutic paddling programs for other groups and institutions that work with either veterans or person’s with disabilities. Examples would be TRR chapters on the campus of EKU and at the Fort Knox Warrior Transition Battalion, Cardinal Hill Rehab Hospital, and more. These funds provide all the boats and gear needed for these programs, as well as all the training needed to make them independent of Team River Runner.
